Biography:
Lisa M. Tripp (Assistant Professor) earned a PhD in Communication from the University of California, San Diego and a BA in Community Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to coming to FSU, she was Associate Director of the Institute for Multimedia Literacy at the University of Southern California. Her research interests include youth culture, youth-produced media, educational equity, and media literacy. She is also a documentary videographer interested in new forms of media scholarship and pedagogy. Over the past 15 years Lisa has worked as an action researcher, ethnographer, and curriculum/program developer on diverse media education projects. Her current research focuses on the role of digital media in young peoples' informal learning and social relationships, and how media authorship and critical media analysis activities can be integrated into progressive education. For the past three years, she has been a collaborator on a multi-site ethnographic study led by Mizuko Ito, "Kids' Informal Learning with Digital Media: An Ethnographic Investigation of Innovative Knowledge Cultures," and funded by the MacArthur Foundation Digital Learning Initiative. |
